Why it sounds the way it does

Detroit beats bounce on the kick, so the kicks here carry a boosted punch band around 150 Hz and a hard clip that lets them cut through a long 808. The snares include flams and pitched versions, and the grooves put extra snares off the backbeat the way the style does. Four grooves sit at 96 to 104 BPM with 16th hats and 32nd bursts; four run in double time at 192 to 208 BPM over 8 bars. Every groove comes as Full, No Kick, Tops and Full + 808.
