The detail
Why it sounds the way it does
A dembow groove needs its hand percussion as much as its kick, so this kit spends most of its sounds there. The timbales ring on a steel shell, the congas come in three sizes and four strokes, the bongos in open, slap, tip and muted, and the guiro is a real scrape with its long and short strokes. The eight grooves change the snare placement and fills from loop to loop, and each comes as Full, No Kick, Percussion Only and Full + 808. The MIDI uses the General MIDI Latin notes, so it maps onto any drum rack.
